Two prestigious awards recently granted to Cornwall Local Energy Market (LEM) project:
- Smart Energy System Award (part of the British Renewable Energy Awards): This award is granted by the Renewable Energy Association (REA), representing renewable energy producers and promoting the use of all forms of renewable energy in the UK across power, heat, transport and recycling. Cornwall LEM project was awarded as a system that supports the roll-out or take-up of renewable energy and energy storage whilst enhancing value and usefulness.
- BusinessGreen Leaders Awards: Centrica’s pioneering Cornwall Local Energy Market was elected as Innovation of the year for its innovative technology provision and integrated nature of a project that could revolutionize how increasingly low carbon energy grids operate.
Learn more about the Local Energy Market project in Cornwall and N-SIDE’s contribution:
Cornwall LEM addresses the challenge of a more sustainable energy landscape by developing a Local Energy Market (LEM) platform aimed at unlocking the potential of flexible renewable sources and storage technologies connected to the distribution network to actively participate in grid management. N-SIDE and Centrica are working in close collaboration in designing and implementing state-of-the-art market clearing algorithms that allow those decentralized assets to help TSO and DNOs solve their balancing and congestion management needs at the lowest possible cost.
