This new H2020 project, FlexPlan, aims at establishing an innovative grid planning methodology considering the opportunity to introduce new storage and flexibility elements in transmission and distribution electricity grids as an alternative to building new lines. As an expert in advanced analytics, N-SIDE will actively contribute by leading and creating the new planning software tool. This tool will be tested on 6 regional use cases : Iberian peninsula, France and Benelux, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, Italy, Balkan region, Northern Countries. The AI for Energy N-SIDE team will also develop efficient algorithms to solve the Probabilistic planning optimization problem.

The overall budget of  the H2020 FlexPlan project is nearly 4.5M€. The consortium includes three TSOs (TERNA, ELES and REN), one DSO (ENEL Global Infrastructure representing e-distribuzione), several R&D companies and universities from 8 European Countries (Belgium, Germany, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain) and N-SIDE, the developer of the European market coupling platform EUPHEMIA.
