On June 24th, the new initiative IO.Energy (Internet Of Energy)  facilitated by ELIA, ORES, Fluvius, Sibelga, Resa, has organized the Ideation closing event, a first important milestone. At the end of the day, 8 projects were indeed selected to help shape the energy landscape of the future.

N-Side is proud to be part of the IO.Energy (Internet Of Energy) with the Soteria project along with Cegeka, ELIA, Fluvius, REstore part of Centrica Business solutions and Thermovault

Belgium is a leading country in terms of demand response. However, there is still a large part of distributed flexibility that cannot be leveraged towards System Operators, due to a lack of information available. The objective of Soteria is to connect all actors required to unlock this unused distributed flexibility and ensure a proper Consumer-TSO-DSO coordination to guarantee safe operation of the grids.

The market-clearing algorithm developed by N-SIDE will optimize the activations to maximise the revenues to the sellers, minimize the costs to the system operators and ensure the grid constraints are respected

What is the added value for the end consumer ?

  • Bring additional sources of flexibility to the TSO and reduce the ancillary services costs of the system operator… which will lead to a reduction of the consumer bill!
  • Bring more revenue streams to prosumers
  • Be an enabler of the energy transition by unlocking greener sources of flexibility and extra flexibility to cope with the unpredictability nature of RES
