A new major milestone has been reached in the E-Cloud project. On June 1st 2019, ORES, together with N-SIDE, Dapesco, UMONS, and Siemens, launched a real model of collective self consumption in the zoning of Tournai, as a pilot.
On June 3rd, ORES organized a press conference to highlight the start of this innovative pilot. N-SIDE was pleased to be part of it to explain how advanced analytics are key in the creation of local energy communities.
The purpose of this project is to develop and optimize open micro-grids in industrial zonings. This allows different companies located in the same zone to benefit from local and collective self-consumption and from a reduction of their electricity cost (from 8 to 14%), as a consequence.
The role of N-SIDE and the key challenges of the project
As advanced analytics expert, N-SIDE has developed with ORES a simulation tool based on optimisation algorithms to :
- define the best design of the micro-grid: optimal investment (PV, wind turbines, batteries…), optimal assets dimensioning
- determine an optimized sharing of the electricity production among the participants
- ensure the optimal self-consumption level for each member
